She is known for her compassion and encouragement, creative and fun ideas, and resourceful ability to tailor her approach to each unique student.

"I love my students! Each of them is so special and brings out different facets of myself, as a person, as a teacher, and as a musician. Some are so goofy, some are seriously inquisitive, all of them present different strengths and weaknesses, and all of them grow.
I feel deep gratitude and fulfillment to be a part of their journey."     - Eva Gertz

Testimonials

"I played piano as a kid and during COVID decided to give it a try again. Having Eva as a teacher has helped me so much! She’s a great teacher and mentor and is really kind. She believes in me (even when I don’t) and takes me through pieces that I have not played since I was a kid, and introduces me to new ones. I have been tackling classical and pop, learning chords and how to practice when things seem impossible. Having piano back in my life has been really rewarding and having Eva as a teacher has been a big part of why it’s been such a positive experience."

"Eva has been a wonderful teacher for both my daughter and myself. During the past 4 years, Eva has built a strong and trustworthy relationship with my daughter, knowing what to do to keep her motivated and excited to play the piano. She'd make sure she plays songs she likes and that she's having fun doing it. Eva also organizes great recitals where her students join and play in front of an audience. I have also been taking piano lessons with Eva for over 2 years and really enjoyed this experience throughout. I was also very impressed with Eva's adaptability over the past few months. Because of Covid, we switched to online classes and it went very well as Eva came up with new fun exercises to perform remotely."

"My 12 year-old daughter Julia has been taking voice lessons with Eva since January 2020. Eva is a patient, upbeat, and creative teacher! Taking lessons with Eva has been a really fun experience for my daughter.  Julia started out somewhat unsure of her abilities, and was nervous to sing in front of others. Eva has worked with her to build confidence, and to find music that speaks to her and highlights her talents. During these difficult past few months, Eva and Julia have continued lessons virtually, and Julia even performed in a fantastic Zoom recital! I highly recommend Eva for voice lessons."

-Emily (Brooklyn, NY)

"Eva is an exceptional piano teacher. She has taught my 2 kids ages 13 and 16 for the past 3 years. Eva exudes confidence, ease and calm. Sometimes my kids want to learn Mozart, sometimes they want to play Devo. She keeps the lessons on track, holds the kids accountable, and does it all with a smile. My kids have become great musicians and have developed a real love of the piano. I can’t recommend Eva enough — she is a true gem of a teacher."

“My daughter Maggie (12 years old) has been taking voice lessons with Eva since she was 10. She has really helped Maggie find her voice by helping her select the right songs for her age and vocal range, and by supporting Maggie when she wants to learn a song that might be more of a challenge. She is a patient and kind instructor, but gives Maggie the gentle push she needs to practice and improve her singing.  My daughter has progressed so much over the last two years. Maggie looks forward to her lessons each week and feels so much more confident in her singing thanks to Eva!”

"Eva is a wonderful teacher! She is great with my 7 year old daughter. Eva has a way of making the lessons fun while still challenging my daughter with lesson-focussed dance and games."

-Beth (New York, NY)

"Eva was incredibly patient with my 7 year old, who created every obstacle in the book to focus on piano. I highly recommend Eva. She clearly is able to teach in a way that reaches different learners."
